There are two major possibilities here: Hey bernie 2 you did not mention attaching one end of the garden hose to the bath or basin cold tap and the other end to the ground floor main supply, (as you no doubt know) that then gives you two options, you can either blow it out or if that wont work simply make sure the hose is full of water and syphon it out, the hose can be run up the stairs or outside through the bathroom window, Place a bowl and dustsheet under the leak, sometimes plastic bags can be used to direct the flow.
